Image Compressor reduces the file size of your JPG, PNG, WEBP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and TIFF images while keeping each one in its original format. Smaller images load faster on websites, upload quicker on slow connections, and fit within the size limits of email and online forms.
Choose Light when quality matters most, Recommended for a balanced result that suits most websites and social posts, or High when the smallest possible file is the priority. Metadata such as camera model and GPS location is removed automatically, which saves a few more kilobytes and protects your privacy. If an image is already so well optimized that recompressing would make it larger, the tool returns your original file instead of a bigger one.
How to use Image Compressor
- Click the upload field and choose one or more images (up to 20 MB each).
- Pick a compression level: Light, Recommended or High.
- Press Generate and wait a few seconds while the images are processed.
- Download the result. Several images are delivered together as one ZIP file.
Tips for better results
- Photographs shrink the most. PNG graphics are reduced by lowering the number of colors at the Recommended and High levels, so check smooth gradients after compressing. At Light, PNG files are only re-encoded without loss, so savings are small.
- If you also need smaller dimensions, resize first with the Image Resizer and then compress.
- Keep your original files. Compression is lossy for JPG, WEBP and AVIF, so lost detail cannot be restored later.
Frequently asked questions
Will compression make my image look blurry?
At the Light and Recommended levels the difference is rarely visible at normal viewing size. High compression trades more detail for a smaller file, so zoom in and check before using it for print.
Does it change my image format?
No. A JPG stays a JPG and a PNG stays a PNG. To switch formats, use the Image Converter.
Are my files kept on your server?
Your original upload is deleted from our server as soon as processing finishes.
