PDF to CSV

Extract text from a PDF into a CSV file.

PDF to CSV extracts the text of a PDF into a CSV file. It is useful when you want to move the contents of a document into a spreadsheet or a database for sorting and searching.

The tool reads the text stored inside the PDF and writes it to a CSV file that opens in Excel, Google Sheets and similar programs. It reads real text only and does not recognise text in scanned pictures. The upload limit is 20 MB.

How to use PDF to CSV

  1. Click the upload field and choose your PDF (up to 20 MB).
  2. Press Generate and wait a few seconds.
  3. Download the CSV file.
  4. Open it in a spreadsheet program and check how the values were split.

Tips for better results

  • Always check how rows and columns were split, because the structure of a PDF is different from a spreadsheet.
  • For PDFs that contain real tables, the PDF to Excel tool may give a better layout.
  • Scanned PDFs contain no text to extract.
