Phones and cameras record details with every photo. If you post or send the original file, anyone who receives it may be able to read this data, including where the photo was taken. This tool removes EXIF, IPTC and XMP metadata and saves a clean copy. If the photo relied on a rotation flag to display upright, the rotation is applied to the pixels first, so the picture does not turn sideways once the flag is removed. Because the image is saved again, JPG and WEBP files are re-encoded at high quality.

Tips for better results
- Use the Image Metadata Viewer first to see what a photo reveals, then check the cleaned copy.
- Many social networks remove some metadata when you upload, but you cannot rely on it. Messaging apps and email often send the original file unchanged.
- Color profiles stored in the file are removed too, so colors can look slightly different in rare cases.
